Maximum reported shell size

[edit]

This species' page on Malacolog gives the maximum reported size as 190 mm, which is 7 1/2 inches. Also gives more info that could be used in this article:

that's definitely not true, if that measurement refer to the length of the shell. The largest shells are at least 30 cm long, 19 cm wouldn't even be a particularly large specimen. However, it could refer to the length of the snail itself, perhaps? "Size" is a bit of an undefined property. 80.167.102.168 (talk) 16:58, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"traverses through the water"

[edit]

Aside from the fact that "traverse" is an intransitive verb taking a direct object, does the snail traverse the water or traverse the benthic environment, like most snails?--Wetman (talk) 20:05, 22 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Tonna galea 02.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on April 15, 2014. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2014-04-15. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. Tonna galea
Five views of a shell of Tonna galea, a species of marine gastropod mollusc in the family Tonnidae. The shell is very large, with an average height of 6 inches (150 mm), but thin and inflated (though relatively durable); as such, the shell weighs considerably less than most other gastropod shells of similar size.
